As part of the ongoing process to update water quality standards for all of New York City’s waterways, NYS DEC announced that a Draft Reclassification of Newtown Creek has been released for public comment. As part of the proposal, NYS DEC and NYC DEP are considering a proposal to take further actions to improve water quality in Newtown Creek.
Consider attending DEC’s Public Meeting next week: July 22nd 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at LaGuardia Community College, Poolside Café, 31-10 Thomson Avenue. The meeting will include presentations from presentations by DEC and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and provide community members with the opportunity to ask questions outside of the formal rulemaking process and engage with staff from both agencies.
